“No company, regardless of its sector of activity, is safe from cyber risks”.
It is with these words that Joel TSHIMANGA, CEO of BENIJAH Consulting Group, kicked off a great cyber morning in the Kampala room of the ARJAAN By Rotana complex.
The event was held on December 22 and 23, 2022 under the theme: ‘Cybersecurity as a lever for a successful digital transformation‘.
In the digital age, it is imperative that customs officers have the latest knowledge and skills to combat online threats and cross-border cybercrime. The objective of this cybersecurity awareness session was to enable senior customs officers from Congo Kinshasa to understand the most common cybersecurity risks and how to protect themselves from them.
During the session, the participants (senior officials) learned about the different types of cyber-attacks and how to identify them. In addition, participants learned best practices for protecting their systems and confidential information.
Particular emphasis was placed on internal behaviors that pose vulnerabilities that can be exploited within the DGDA. Such as Shadow IT and the lack of a cyber security strategy.
This session was designed to be interactive and engaging, with hands-on activities and case studies to illustrate the importance of cybersecurity in the customs industry. The goal was to provide DGDA senior managers with the tools they need to confidently navigate the online world and maintain the security of their systems and the sensitive information they process.
